Shika Hanna

Not the most intelligent. Not the most interesting. Not the most fashionable. Not the slimmest. Not the tallest. Not the sexiest. Not the cutest. Not the funniest. And definitely not the most attractive lady around.

Yet, i am lucky enough to have thousands of wonderful readers supporting my blog everyday, leading me to lots of interesting experiences, valuable opportunities that i would never have chanced upon if not for you all. Thanks to all those who stayed by my side through all the ups and downs :)

My first kiss in my entire life

was definitely as a baby.
I'm sure my mum had grabbed my little body and kissed me. Haha.

Freedom is finally here!

NO MORE SPM ( Actually there's still one more paper to go which is EST ). Oh gosh. I have never thought I will get through this. But I did. And I still can't believe it.  I'm finally done with school! I'm no longer a student! I'm a free being!

I have no idea what to do now. Wait. Sleep. Yeah, I need sleep. I've been sleep deprived for the last couple of days. A long sleep is what I need right now. Then, I'm going to continue my horror challenge. I've neglected it for far too long. And more bible studies now. It's time to start moving again. I can't wait to LIVE again!

By the way, for those who requested for the tutorials, I'm going to post it next month or maybe I'll just email it to you. Sorry for the delay :)

Stake Land 2010

Horror Fanatic Challenge 6# : Favourite Vampire Movie

Stake Land ( 2010 ) - Fantastically paced vamp film !

This is definitely one of the best post-apocalyptic movie of the decade. The plot is simple. If you saw "The Road", you'll know what to expect (except for vamps:)). The beginning somehow reminded me "Zombieland" but that one was forgotten after a few minutes. The acting is really good, especially from Nick Damici. Make up effects are really cool. Director and co-writer Jim Mickle did a really great job in creating a bleak, hopeless and relentless world.

I am very impressed with Stake Land, in terms of being a very well made film. You simply have to admire the cinematography (lighting and shooting style was responsible for the realism factor), storyline (character development was top notch), production (realistic locations and sets), directing (credit to the director & his team) and acting (thumbs up).

I was hooked from beginning to the end. That's for sure.

p/s : Actually, there's another vampire movie that I liked. Unfortunately I have forgotten the title of the movie :(

In a near future, the North America is an anarchic country after a vampire apocalypse. The teenager Martin is preparing to travel with his parents when they are attacked by a vampire. Martin is rescued by the stranger Mister and after killing the vampire, they head to the north expecting to reach the New Eden, former Canada. Along their journey through the destroyed country, Mister trains Martin and they rescue and befriend other survivors and have to fight not only against the vampires, but also a dangerous brotherhood of fanatic religious members led by the insane Jebedia Loven.

Friday The 13th 2009

Horror Fanatic Challenge 5# : Favourite Horror Remake

Friday The 13th 2009

I've been a fan of the original Friday The 13th for many years now and was of course skeptical of this "remake" but decided to give it a shot nonetheless. I'm a fan of horror movies - this includes good, bad, and indifferent so I figured why not? Being that Friday The 13th was one of my favorites, I didn't expect much.

From start to finish the film keeps you on the edge of your seat. It isn't so much the suspense but instead, the moments you know are coming just not when or how they'll be approached exactly. It takes quite a bit to frighten me and I counted a good 2 or 3 times I actually jumped throughout the film. There's plenty of gore for the gore lovers, plenty of sexual explicitness for the perverts ( Well, it wouldn't be a "Friday the 13th" movie without the sex xD ), and plenty of drugs for the stoners just like an old fashioned horror movie should contain.

As for Jason's new "attitude" if you really wanna call it that, it's a huge plus in my book. He's more bad ass, he's more ruthless and he's definitely more imaginative with his killing 'methods'. I went in expecting another night of jumps ( mostly because of the sound effects, dang it. ), and got just that plus the satisfaction of knowing a classic horror movie icon was finally re-done correctly.

What I don't really favor is there's like a lot, A LOT of boobies everywhere. Seriously. I'm sure without those silly stuff, the movie would be more spectacular. I guess that was why most IMDB comment-er did not enjoy the movie. Whatever. I still think it's a nice movie directed by the brilliant Marcus Nispel.

Story Line
A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. The perpetrator was a grieving mother, driven insane by the drowning of her child, Jason, whom she believed was neglected by the camp counselors. As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. But then Jason came back, and now he is a vengeful and inexorable killer, wielding crossbows, swords, axes and other sharp instruments. The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. Six months later, the brother of one of those campers distributes posters of his missing sister. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all.

House of 1000 Corpses 2003

Horror Fanatic Challenge 4# : Horror Movie You Thought You'd Love And Hated Instead

House of 1000 Corpses 2003 - Total trash DX

It is a foul, perverted, depraved piece of work that never should have been made. The choppy editing, the negative images, and the random S&M footage made the movie difficult to watch, and did not make it any scarier.

When I voted for this film, I was wishing that IMDB had a 0 or negative stars. This was one of the worst pieces of crap I ever set eyes on. If I had paid (borrowed the DVD) to see this, I'd have wanted my money back. Whoever gave Rob Zombie the money to make this ludicrous, poorly written, shot, edited and acted piece of crap should be made to watch it over and over until they are insane.

This was without a doubt, one of the most useless wastes of cinema ever! Even the original and vastly overrated Texas Chainsaw Massacre was better. Amateurish at best, absolute garbage at worst, it just shows how far Hollywood has fallen. Not an ounce of originality in this worthless waste of time and effort.

I'm sorry Rob Zombie to disappoint you ;(

p/s : The soundtracks are awesome though :)

Short Story Line
Two teenage couples traveling across the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends of murder end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic backwater family of serial killers.

Scream 1996

Horror Fanatic Challenge 3# : Favourite Classic Horror

Scream 1996 - Scary, funny and clever, the best Scream movie by miles!

This movie is truly an American horror classic, and I can guarantee that it will continue to be such for decades to come. The movie is a landmark in film making, considering the fact that it redefined and entire film genre! Scream is smart, funny, and suspenseful all at the same time, which gives the movie the perfect taste for anyone who wants to see a scary and satisfying horror sensation.

I remember being so terrified by the Scream mask, Ghost Face when I was little. I think I first saw the mask on TV when I was 3 and I was terrified of it, and I nearly peed my pants when I first watched the movie at the age of 6.

Scream is one of the scariest movie that I have ever seen, and along with that, it is the best movie that I have ever seen. It has characters that are easy to connect with and love, especially Sidney Prescott. It is a very enjoyable movie, along with the other 3 in the series so far. I recommend this movie to everyone. It is a true horror phenomenon!

And of course, the taglines are awesome! One of my favorite taglines :
" From The First Name In Suspense Comes The Last Word In Fear "

Short Storyline
One year after the death of Sidney Prescott's (Campbell) mother, two students turn up gutted. When a serial killer appears, Sidney begins to suspect whether her mother's death and the two new deaths are related. No one is safe, as the killer begins to pick everyone off one by one. Everyone's a suspect in this case.

The Conjuring

Horror Fanatic Challenge #2 : The last horror movie you saw in theater.

The Conjuring - An instant gem among the classic horror titles!

Who would've guessed that the director of Saw would end up being the most inventive horror filmmaker working in the industry? James Wan brilliantly takes us back to the retro days of horror, delivering an extremely stylistic, visually striking horror film that stands tall amongst the classics. With virtually no sex, no gore and no cursing The Conjuring earns its R-rating on scares alone.

James Wan's 'The Conjuring' is one of those rare gems in the horror industry that finds a spot beside the classic titles of horror, 'The Shining', 'Poltergeist', and 'The Exorcist' due to James Wan's ability to balance an atmospheric dreadful tale involving wonderfully crafted characters with a haunted house that had my palms sweating and my heart pounding during some of the most horrifying moments (There are a few of those; make sure you empty your bladder BEFORE entering the theater especially those scared-y-cats HAHA).

If you enjoy classic horror like The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror and Poltergeist, I can almost guarantee The Conjuring won't disappoint :)

In 1971, Carolyn and Roger Perron move their family into a dilapidated Rhode Island farm house and soon strange things start happening around it with escalating nightmarish terror. In desperation, Carolyn contacts the noted paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to examine the house. What the Warrens discover is a whole area steeped in a satanic haunting that is now targeting the Perron family wherever they go. To stop this evil, the Warrens will have to call upon all their skills and spiritual strength to defeat this spectral menace at its source that threatens to destroy everyone involved.

The Evil Dead 1981

Horror Fanatic Challenge #1 - Your first Horror Movie.

Evil Dead ( 1981 ) - Marvelously putrid.

This movie is the movie that started me into horror movies. A few nights ago, a couple of friends and myself watched The Evil Dead again. It was like the 100th viewing for me but it still only means one thing to me: PARTY !! Many feeling can occur when watching this delicious masterpiece by Sam Raimi. You can either adore it, be frightened by it or be disgusted by it. But it always leaves a big impression on you and I can't imagine anyone would hate it.

In my opinion, this is by far the best of the trilogy, and although there could have been more of the chainsaw, this is the definitive zombie film and probably always will be. I feel it succeeds over it's sequels due to it's increased violence and lack of humor in comparison. It's blood, gore, camera work, and shock factor are still formidable even today and are what make this such a cult classic. If you've ever liked any horror film, this is an absolute must-see. ( Ps: If you want to check it out, I will attach a short storyline below and also the trailer. )

Bruce Campbell as Ash, the badass of all zombie films. Campbell is Ash, period, and always will be.

Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival.

And here's the trailer :

One Direction Madame Tussauds'

On Thursday, British-Irish boy band One Direction were excited when they finally came face-to-face with their waxwork doubles at Madame Tussauds' official unveiling in London.

Employees at the tourist attraction have spent months recreating the stars in detail for the life-like figures, which will tour Madame Tussauds branches around the world after a stay in the British capital.

Each band member gave two sittings so the Madame Tussauds team could take hundreds of precise measurements, examine their skin tones, eye colors and hair - which was also double checked by personal hair stylist Louise Teasdale - to ensure they were totally accurate.

A team of 40 people, including sculptors, molders, hair stylists, colorists and wardrobe experts worked flat out for four months to create the figures which each cost $230,000 to make.

The Pop stars turned out for the official unveiling and posed for pictures with the dummies, with Harry Styles saying of the occasion, "It's amazing and such an honor" and Zayn Malik adding, "They look wicked (good), they're bang on (just right)."

Niall Horan admitted he was shocked to see his double wearing a pair of sneakers he once owned, adding, "This is weird - he's wearing my actual shoes."

The band's wax figures will be on display in London from April 18th to July 11th, in New York from July 19th to October 11th, and Sydney from October 24th to January 28th.

Perrie Edwards pranks sleeping Zayn Malik

One Direction star Zayn Malik was subjected to an embarrassing prank by his girlfriend Perrie Edwards, who gave the singer a manicure while he slept.

The exhausted heartthrob took time out from his busy schedule to grab a quick nap but the Little Mix singer took the opportunity to treat her boyfriend to the colourful makeover.

A delighted Perrie immediately took to her page to share a snap of Malik asleep on a sofa with a fedora hat pulled over his eyes while she holds up his multi-coloured nails to the camera, writing, "The perks of your boyfriend not waking up through anything. Pretty... nails Zayn."

This is the life

Hi readers. It's been a long time right? It's nice to write a post again after so long. I'm not sure whether
you still bother to view my blog until now or not but whatever. Thanks for those who actually still follow the updates. Since now they have "Tumblr", so no one actually cares to create or manage a blog any more  Except me, sesat here. I love Blogger. It's way better than Tumblr if you ask me :) Why? Ask yourself.

By the way, you must have been wondering why was I away for so long. The first reason is because I joined RCIA last year until now, making me as busy as a bee. Second, I'm lazy. Super LAZY. I just got my test results last week. It was terrible. Horrible. Formidable. Awful. That's the first time I actually did very very very very bad in exam/test whatever. Maybe it's because I was into RCIA till I forgot about my studies in school. But at least I passed my RCIA test :) My classmates were like " Shika, what happened? Are you okay? Do you have problems? You look happy even though you did bad in your test. Don't you worry about SPM? " blah blah blah.

Well that's me. I'm always neutral. When I'm sad, frustrated, stressed, happy, sick, angry etc, I don't show it. Okay, maybe sometimes yes. Obviously I'm dead worried about SPM. It's just around the corner. What should I do now? Study? I hate studying. I have been telling this to my momma since last year. She replied, ' It's okay honey. One year left and you'll be free for three months. Then maybe you'll change your mind. If you wanna be rich, then study and get a good job.'

No mom, no. I hate STUDYING. I'm never gonna change that. Just to get money, I have to study? Why?! Whatever. I don't care about being clever, funny, pretty now. Sighs*

Okay. Fine. I will study my ass off from now on. I'm doing this because of my parents. Because I love them. And I almost forgot. I have God who is always there for me :)
